Custom blue silk corset - Corsé custom de seda azul

This piece is a recent commission I made for a curvy client. It's made of electric blue with purple weave shantung silk, and has been ornated with hand cut lace appliques and acrylic rhinestones in deep blue and black.
It features 5 layers of fabric -silk, coutil, a double layer of light cotton canvas and printed cotton lining-, a black busk front closure, a combination of flat steel and spiral wire boning (6 flats, 6 11mm-wide spirals, and 14 7mm-wide spirals), waist stay,  antique metal two-piece eyelets at the back, an unboned modesty plaket under the busk, and a boned suspended modesty panel at the back.

Este corsé es un encargo reciente creado para una clienta muy curvilínea. Está confeccionado en seda salvaje azul eléctrico con sombras púrpura, y adornado con aplicaciones de encaje cortado y cosido a mano junto con piedras acrílicas en azul intenso y negro.
Se compone de 5 capas de tejido -seda salvaje, coutil (tejido de fuerza), dosfinas capas de entretela de algodón y forro de algodón estampado-; un cierre frontal de busk lacado en negro, una combinación de ballenas de acero plano y espiral (6 planas, 6 espirales de 11mm de ancho y 14 espirales de 7mm de ancho), refuerzo en la cintura, ojetes de dos piezas en metal ennegrecido en el cierre trasero, una tapeta flexible bajo el busk y un modesty panel emballenado y suspendido de las cintas del cierre trasero.
En este video se aprecian mejor las piedrecitas pese a la mala calidad de la grabación.

These pics were taken in a rush as these custom spats needed to be shipped early the next morning. I hope she sends me some cute pics of her wearing them in all their glamour and splendor, they're absolutely gorgeous!!
Brown and beige cotton velvet, embroidered tulle overlay, two-piece machine-set eyelets in antique gold, bronze satin lining and ribbons. So pretty!

Polainas customizadas para B.E.

Estas fotos fueron tomadas apuradamente puesto que debían ser enviadas al día siguiente. Espero que mi clienta me mande fotos suyas que muestren lo preciosas que son.
Confeccionadas en terciopelo de algodón beige y marrón, con superposiciones de tul bordado, ojetes de dos piezas colocados con prensa en color oro viejo, y cintas y forro de raso en color bronce. ¡Hermosas!

Black damask custom corset with straps - Corsé de damasco negro con tirantes (encargo)

Here's the last corset commission, a corset with straps. While discussing the idea with my customer and friend, it popped into my mind with a steampunk feel, so suggested those gorgeous silver plated military buttons to adjust the straps. She's naturally a curvy girl, but this corset gives her an amazing silhouette and a reduction of 5 to 8 cm (2 to 3 inches) at the waist. Gorgeous hourglass!!

It's made out of four layers of fabric (black damask polyester brocade for the outer shell, cotton interlining, cotton herringbone coutil for the strength layer and a funny printed cotton lining). The structure, as usual, mixes spiral wire and flat steel boning, plus a waist stay. The front closure is a silver plated steel busk and the back is adjusted with flat shoe-type laces passing through two-piece silver eyelets. The back modesty panel is boned and suspended from the lacing, and there's also a placket as a new feature (kind of a modesty panel but underneath the busk, to prevent damage on the body or undesireable pieces of skin shown in between the two pieces of the busk. The straps are adjusted at the front with unseen snap buttons (the silver plated ones are just decorative) that can be unsewn and replaced in case of needed readjustment.

Este es el último encargo que he recibido, un corsé con tirantes. Cuando comentaba los detalles con mi clienta y amiga, surgió en mi mente la idea de un corsé con un aire steampunk y propuse los botones tipo militar que adornan los tirantes. Ella tiene una figura naturalmente curvilínea, pero este corsé le proporciona una silueta espectacular y una reducción en la cintura de entre 5 y 8 cm.

El corsé está hecho de cuatro capas de tela (brocado de damasco negro en el exterior, entretela de algodón, capa de fuerza de coutil en algodón y un divertido print de algodón para el forro). La estructura, como es habitual es mis corsés, mezcla ballenas de acero espiral y plano, además del refuerzo de la cintura. El cierre frontal es un busk de acero plateado y la espalda se ajusta con un cordón corsetero plano que atraviesa ojetes plateados de dos piezas. El modesty panel (panel trasero bajo los cordones) está emballenado y suspendido de dichos cordones; he incluido además una nueva característica, la plaqueta frontal: una especie de modesty panel frontal que se sitúa bajo el busk y evita pellizcarse la piel o que se vea ésta entre las dos mitades del cierre. Los tirantes se ajustan en la parte delantera con automáticos (los botones militares son en realidad decorativos) que pueden ser descosidos y recolocados en caso de necesitar un reajuste.

Bronze and black corset - commission

My lovely client modeling her custom-made corset

This is a custom corset I've just made for a lovely client. It's made out of 5 layers of fabric (fashion fabric, two layers of cotton canvas for extra stiffnes of the fashion fabric as it is very thin and delicate, cotton herringbone coutil and satin lining).

The off-the-shoulder sleeves are made of black chiffon and are hand sewn to the garment after it was finished as my client wanted to detach them after the event she wanted this piece for so she can wear it in more informal events (it was not possible to set snap buttons or hooks and eyes to ease detaching them as they actually have a trim on the edge that follows the top edge of the corset and this had to be sewn on). The front and back of the corset are decorated with guipure lace appliques. The top edge, side seams and both front and back closures are also embellished with black braid trim as well as the top edge of the sleeves.

The suspended modesty panel is boned and reversible: black satin on one side and the outer fashion fabric on the other side. The one shown is the black in contrast with the bronze satin ribbon laces as you can see on the third photo.

The hidden boning this garment features is mixed, so there's 6 flat steel bones (2 on the sides of the black busk at the front, and 4 framing the two-piece eyelets at the back) plus 2 more vertically set in the modesty panel. And 18 spiral wire bones, 9 on each side of the corset, plus 3 more set horizontally inside the modesty panel. The structure includes a waist stay to reinforce the waist area.

Silver-black underbust corset - commission

This is a commissioned custom underbust corset I made for a lovely mid-aged lady. It's an hourglass basic underbust made of silver and black silk brocade. It features four layers of fabric (including black satin lining), mixed boning structure -spiral wire and flat steel plus waist stay- and front busk closure, machine set eyelets and grommets in antique metal finish at the back closure with matching attached modesty panel, black satin ribbon and black satin bias binding.
Note that the brocade patterns have been taken into account to create symmetries when possible.

Este es un corsé por debajo del pecho que hice a medida para una mujer de mediana edad. Se trata de un ceñidor básico confeccionado en brocado de seda plata y negro. Está compuesto de cuatro capas de tela (incluyendo el forro de raso negro), una estructura mixta de ballenas de acero espiral y plano junto con un refuerzo en la cintura, cierre de busk en la parte frontal, ojetes de dos piezas con acabado pavonado (envejecido) colocados a máquina en el cierre posterior junto con lazo de raso negro y un panel trasero cosido y a juego. y remate en los bordes con bies de raso negro.
Destaca el aprovechamiento del patrón del brocado para hacer juegos de simetrías en la medida de lo posible.

July 2011 Custom corset + mini top hat

In July 2011 I was asked to make an emerald green underbust corset with a matching mini top hat. and this is what my customer and I agreed to create.

The corset has three layers: the outer green fabric is silk -I cannot remember how to call the type of silk it is in English-, cotton coutil interlining and black polyester brocade for lining. It includes a waist stay, 12 steel bones/spiral wire, a jet black steel busk and a set of 24 black eyelets and grommets to lace it at the back with a black satin ribbon. The edges are finished with black satin bias. The front seams and back edges are delicately ornamented with a satin cord trim. A matching modesty panel has been attached to the back.

The mini top hat is a basic top hat in matching green silk with a black ribbon.

En Julio de 2011 recibí un pedido para hacer un corsé bajo el pecho en verde esmeralda con una minichistera a juego, y este diseño es el que finalmente acordamos llevar a cabo mi clienta y yo.

El corsé está compuesto por tres capas de tela: la exterior en verde es seda salvaje, entretela de lienzo de algodón y forro de brocado de poliéster en negro. Incluye refuerzo en la cintura, 12 ballenas de acero/acero espiral, un cierre de busk en negro mate y un set de 24 ojetes de dos piezas para ajustarlo por detrás con una cinta de raso negra. Los bordes están acabados con bies de raso negro. Las costuras frontales y los bordes traseros han sido delicadamente adornados con un vivo en raso negro. He colocado un modesty panel a juego en la parte trasera.

La minichistera es un tocado básico en la misma seda salvaje con una cinta de raso negra como único ornamento.

Las fotografías en el medio muestran a mi clienta con el corsé y la chistera puestos.
